We work on every demolition project with the environment in mind. Whether it’s minimising noise, recycling waste, or ethically removing waste, our team adheres to the strictest guidelines.
So, no matter if you have a large factory to demolish, a car park, commercial offices, a house, or a block of flats, you can rest assured that we use the most environmentally-friendly demolition techniques available.
85+% of waste is recycled
We are currently recycling over 85% of waste from our demolition projects. That means, we extract, crush, chip or reuse materials where possible so we can divert them away from landfill. Almost nothing goes to waste.
Where possible, we will reuse 100% of the demolished rubble for hardcore foundations of the next building project on that land. If that is not possible, we will move the rubble via our grab lorry to a project that is as near as possible, keeping our carbon footprint to a minimum.
Recycling By Hand
On projects that are more hands-on (like cut and carve demolition projects), we will extract materials and then sort the waste by hand. This enables us to remove metals, plastics, leads, asbestos, and wood, then sort them accordingly at our waste transfer station. Even if materials can’t immediately be recycled, we will take them to a local council waste site for ethical and legal disposal.
The only time we are unable to recycle is when the waste may contain toxic or harmful substances (such as asbestos). In these instances, we use our specialist asbestos disposal partner to remove and safely dispose of the waste.
Our Demolition Recycling Statistics are as follows:
Over the past 12-months, we have achieved.
100% of wood recycled into woodchip, sawdust and other building project uses.
100% of 700 tonne crushed 6F5 material recycled – this was used on site for piling mat construction.
92% of construction & demolition waste recycled for hardcore bases.
2023 Demolition Statistics:
In 2023, Feltham Demolition was able to recycled 85% of construction & demolition waste (15% could not be recycled due to to fridge panels and plastics being non-recyclable)
We aim to minimise Noise Pollution and Harmful Gases
Traditionally, demolition excavators are quite loud and run on diesel. This is noisy and isn’t great for the environment long-term.
Fortunately, we now have electric demolition machines where we can undertake a more delicate demolition. This helps us to sort and manage the material recycling process in a more efficient way but with less noise. It also helps us to keep the local wildlife and the residents happy!
